Interactive "Eat the Rainbow" Course for Kids

At Big Kids Academy, we believe food should be an adventure, not a chore. Our 40-minute sessions are designed to keep energy high as we explore food through color, science, and play. Whether you have a picky eater or a child who loves everything, this course focuses on "Body Fuel" in a pressure-free environment that encourages kids to taste and try on their own terms.

The 4-Class Nutrition Adventure:

Class 1: What Is Food & Why Do We Eat? 

We discover how food acts as "Superpower Fuel" for our brains and bodies.

Class 2: Rainbow Eating – Fruits & Vegetables.

A deep dive into the colors of nature! Kids learn how different colored plants help different parts of their bodies.

Class 3: Meet the 4 Super Nutrients. 

We introduce the "Building Blocks" of food Proteins, Carbs, Fats, and Vitamins, in a fun, playful way.

Class 4: Balance Plate & Fun Cooking With Colors. 

We put it all together! Kids learn how to build a "Balance Plate" and participate in hands-on food assembly.

Big Kids Academy: Big Nutritionists FAQ

  • Yes! In fact, it is one of our favorite courses for picky eaters. By moving the focus away from "rules" and toward "superpowers" and colors, we lower the pressure. We turn food into a science experiment and an adventure, which naturally encourages kids to become more adventurous eaters at home.

  • In the Big Nutritionists course, we move beyond just "healthy eating" to build Food Literacy and confidence. Your child will develop:

     

    The "Eat the Rainbow" Skill: Identifying how different natural colors (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue/Purple) provide specific "superpowers" for their eyes, heart, skin, and brain.

     

    Nutrient Identification: A playful introduction to the 4 Super Nutrients—the building blocks that help them grow, move, and think.

     

    The Balance Plate Method: Learning how to visually organize their plate to include a variety of fuels for a balanced day.

    Food Curiosity & Exploration: Moving from "I don't like that" to "I wonder what that tastes like?" through pressure-free sensory exploration.

    Independence in the Kitchen: Safe, age-appropriate food assembly skills that empower them to help prepare their own colorful snacks.

  • The course consists of 4 weekly sessions, each lasting exactly 40 minutes. We have found this to be the perfect "Active Engagement" window long enough to dive deep into nutrition, but short enough to keep every child focused and energized.

  • To keep our classroom a safe, private, and high-energy space for all children, we do not provide recordings. However, you can log in to our live Zoom sessions from any device, anywhere—so you never have to miss the fun!

  • We suggest the age range as a guide, but we know that parents know their children best! Our classes are designed so that each age group takes away different levels of understanding. No matter their age, they will learn at their own pace and find something fascinating. If you feel your child is ready to join the course, they are more than welcome.

  • We want you to feel confident joining the club! We offer a full refund if you cancel at least 14 days before the start date. If after the first session you feel it isn't the right fit, we offer a partial refund of $80. After that point, refunds are no longer available as your child's seat is reserved
